Lizzo Cracks Up During Her ‘SNL’ Hosting Debut, Bringing Twerking & Flute Skills To Sketch Series

The current broadcast of Saturday Night Live didn’t just make the audience laugh. Lizzo, a rapper-singer, made her SNL hosting debut and kept the audience laughing all night.

Lizzo, who also performed as a musical guest, began her hilarious appearance with the latest instalment of “Guess That Sketch.”

Lizzo was cast as Nicole, a challenging participant on a hypothetical trivia show, with Chris Redd and Ego Nwodim. Even when she answered questions poorly, she confronted Kenan Thompson’s game show host Clint and demanded reward money. The first time the musician laughed was when her character asked to be the “new Mayor of Game Town.”

“The first thing I’m going to do is book us into a nicer hotel with an espresso machine,” she explained.

Lizzo, Aidy Bryant, and others transported audiences back to the early 2000s, when the Black Eyed Peas released their smash songs “Boom Boom Pow” and “I Gotta Feeling.”

Music producers played by Lizzo and Bryant attempted to persuade the pop music group to integrate more innovative concepts into their music throughout the sketch. When the Peas ultimately suggest adding the meme-worthy “Mazel Tov, L’Chaim” line to the snappy track, the “Rumors” vocalist laughs again.

During a final Beanie Baby-centric sketch, Lizzo brings it home with one more laugh. Lizzo and Andrew Dismukes, who play a married couple, talk about vacation ideas and how they’ll make a living off the claimed value of their Beanie Babies. However, just as Dismukes is about to topple the plush animal-filled shelf, Lizzo breaks character and laughs about the toys.

Despite the out-of-character laughter, the current SNL episode was pure Lizzo, with the singer playing the flute, twerking, and even doing both at the same time. In addition to two new songs, the singer’s hosting debut featured repeated appearances by her mother, who introduced the second performance.
