Boris Johnson slams’misogyny’ hurled towards Angela Rayner in the wake of Tory outrage over anonymous comments.

In the midst of a rising backlash after comments about Ms Rayner in a Sunday newspaper story, the Prime Minister resorted to Twitter on Sunday.

Boris Johnson has spoken out against internal Tory “misogyny” directed against the deputy Labour leader.

In the midst of a rising backlash after comments about Ms Rayner in a Sunday newspaper story, the Prime Minister resorted to Twitter on Sunday.

Because she crosses her legs in the House of Commons, they compared Ms Rayner to Sharon Stone’s character in the film Basic Instinct.

Mr Johnson replied, “As much as I disagree with @AngelaRayner on practically every political topic, I respect her as a legislator and regret the anonymous misogyny aimed at her today.”

Ms Rayner replied by retweeting the PM’s post and saying, “Thank you.”

Ms Rayner has previously denied claims in the Mail on Sunday that she crossed and uncrossed her legs to distract Mr Johnson at the dispatch box.

On Sunday morning, she conveyed her displeasure with the “perverted smears.”

“I’ve been accused of using a ‘ploy’ to ‘distract the hapless Prime Minister.’ “I’m scheming to ‘throw him off his stride’ by being a woman, having legs, and wearing clothes,” she claimed.
